General Facilities

Q: Is Pumpkin Island suitable for families?

 

A: Yes, Pumpkin Island is ideal for families, couples and large groups.

Q: Are pets allowed?

A: Sorry, no pets are allowed are on Pumpkin Island.


Q: Is there a secure car park facility on the mainland?

A: Yes, Keppel Bay Security Car Park offers a shuttle service to Keppel Bay Marina. Keppel Bay Security Car Park can be contacted on +61 (0)7 4933 6670.  


Q: Is there a restaurant at the Pumpkin Island?

A: While Pumpkin Island does not have a restaurant, all cottages have fully equipped kitchens and outdoor BBQ's to prepare delicious meals. For those who prefer not to self-cater, the award winning Waterline Restaurant has created a gourmet menu especially for Pumpkin Island's guests. Orders can be placed with the Waterline Restaurant up to 48 hours before arrival and collected on day of departure to the island from Keppel Bay Marina, where Pumpkin Xpress departs from.

Q: Is smoking allowed?

A: Smoking is permitted in your garden, ashtrays are provided. Please do not smoke inside your cottage. 


Q: Are there private garden areas?

A: All cottages are designed to incorporate individual garden areas. Cottages are quite isolated from each other to ensure privacy.


Q: Are there barbecue facilities?

A: All cottages have comfortable outdoor furniture and BBQ’s for alfresco dining


Q: Are there stingers in the area?

A: During the summer months marine stingers may be present

Q: Can I drink the water?

A: Yes, we have filtered tank water.

Q: Can I fish off the island or do I have to have a boat?

A: The fishing is good directly off the island's shore with various species such as tuna, mackerel, trevally and queenfish amongst others. Small tinnies are for hire on Pumpkin Island.

Q: What fish are there in the area?

A: Mackerel, Trevally, Queen Fish, Rock Cod, Amberjack, Red Emperor,

Squid and many more... 

Q: How far away is the beach from my cottage?

A: The beach is approximately 20 – 30 meters from each cottage. 

Q: Which languages are spoken at the reception?

A: English

Q: Does the retreat accept credit cards?

A: Payments can be made securely online at the time of booking or at reception by cash or credit (we accept VISA and Mastercard)

Q: Where can we shop in Yeppoon?

A: Yeppoon has a SPAR, Woodys Foodworks, Woolworths, Coles and many speciality stores including butchers, liquor stores, bakeries, etc. For thos guests who decide to fly into Rockhampton or do not have the time to shop, Cedar Park Spar provides a shopping service including delivery to Keppel Bay Marina on day of departure to Pumpkin Island. Orders can be placed up to 48 hours before arrival on the island. Woolworths and Coles Online Stores also delivers to Rosslyn Bay. Q: Where can we stay in Yeppoon?

A: Yeppoon has a wide range of places, some may include Rosslyn Bay Inn, Capricorn Resort, Echelon Apartments, Beaches on Lammermoor and many more.

 

Q: How do we get from Rockhampton airport to Yeppoon?

A: We recommend Little Johnny's Tours (http://www.littlejohnnystours.com/).

Youngs Bus provides a service from Rockhampton airport to Yeppoon and Keppel Bay Marina. Rental car companies or taxi services provide an alternative option.

Accommodation

Q: Do you supply bedding?


A: All linen is supplied with the exception of beach towels.

Q: Are there TV's in the cottages?

A: No, Pumpkin Island has no TV’s.

Q: Is there power in the cottages?

A: Yes, but power at the cottages are 12 volt only and will not be powerful enough to charge any electronic equipment. We do however have a room at 'The Lookout' that has 240 volt power, where smaller electronic equipment, such as phones, cameras or iPods can be charged between 10am and 4pm.

Q: What size is the fridge in the cottage?

A: 225lt. An average household size (gas) fridge with a freezer compartment. Pumpkin Island staff recommend guests bring eskies with ice should more space be required.

Q: Do I have to bring plates and pots etc?

A: No, that is all supplied

Q: Does the island have mobile reception?


A: Yes, the island has mobile reception, so your USB modem (for the Internet) and mobile phone will work.

Q: Do you have air conditioning?


A: No, the island does not have any air conditioners. All cottages are fitted with ceiling fans that run off solar power. Care should therefore be taken not to waste power by leaving fans running when not in use.

Q: Do the cottages have a deck / veranda?


A: All cottages have decks or verandas, which have been designed for you to enjoy your view as much as possible.

 
 

Dining

Q: Do you have a restaurant?

A: While Pumpkin Island does not have a restaurant, all cottages have fully equipped kitchens and outdoor BBQ's to prepare delicious meals. Q: Is there a shop on Pumpkin Island?

A: Pumpkin Island has no shops and guests need to bring along all food, drinks and other required grocery items for the duration of their stay. 

 
 

Arrival and Departure

Q: What time is check in?


A: Check-in time is from 2pm, the island is open to new guests from 10am. Check in is only made at 2pm if the cottage that you are going in to requires cleaning, in which case we do ask for your patience if your cottage is still being cleaned upon arrival before 2pm. We can arrange to clean the fridge first thing and stock it with your food. If no guests leave on the day you arrive, check in happens straight away. It might be worthwhile contacting us a couple of days before arrival to see if you’ll be able to check in straight away.

Q: What time does Pumpkin Xpress depart Keppel Bay Marina?


A: Pumpkin Xpress departs the mainland at 9am.

Q: What time does Pumpkin Xpress pick up from Pumpkin Island?


A: Pumpkin Xpress departs the island at 10am.


Q: What time is check out?


A: Check-out from your room is 10am. 

 

Q: How do we get our luggage from the boat to our cottage?

A: Pumpkin Island has no porter service and we do ask for all guests to assist with loading and offloading the boat and quad bike. We do not let guests carry their luggage from the beach to the cottages, instead we use a quad and a trailer to pack everything into and drive it right up to your door step..it saves everyone from having to struggle with big heavy bags or eskies.
